I just bought a new CRF450R after wanting a CRF250R for the last 6 months I finally decided to visit my local Honda dealer and get one. I had decided I would get a 250 some time ago after reading some comments in a magazine about a pro rider saying he had downsized to 250 and recommended other riders should to. There is also Daniel Reardons move from a 450 in the Australian motocross to a 250 over in the states. Seeing as I am about 68kg and 150 something centimeters tall I thought the 250 would be better suited to my size. I still wasn’t sure whether to go with the 250 or 450 and just to make matters worse when I arrived at the Honda shop they had the 450′s on sale for $500 more than the 250′s. I talked to the sales rep for a while and he was leaning towards a 250 going by my size. Still unsure I had a chat to the store owner, who recommended the 450 as my primary use would be for recreational use and racing in the veterans class at various motocross clubs.

So I finally made a decision to go with the 450 and I really don’t know what the 250 would be like but the 450 is totally awesome. My last bike was a 2 stroke KX250, which I still own but do not want to ride again after riding the new thumper. The handling is smooth as, the power is everywhere, just pick a gear and twist the throttle, but make sure to keep your weight forward when you do.
